Oakbrook Terrace Park District’s Updated Mission, Vision, and Core Values
For more than 60 years, the Oakbrook Terrace Park District has served its diverse constituency through its outstanding parks, amenities, and recreational opportunities. We manage and preserve some of our community’s most treasured spaces – the tree-covered pathway around the pond at Terrace View Park, the intimate walls of the Mario Parente Theater, and the vibrant rain gardens at Dorothy Drennon Park, to name a few. We strive to create an environment where families, friends, neighbors, and visitors to our community can create lasting memories through joyful experiences. And, above all else, we embody the belief that everyone belongs here.
To better define who we are and the future of our organization, the Park District recently undertook a comprehensive process to update our mission statement, develop a vision statement, and articulate our core values. This effort, which spanned several months, involved significant contributions from both Park District staff and the Board of Park Commissioners. We engaged in thoughtful discussions and conducted a detailed survey to identify what matters most to our community and how we can best serve those needs. We are proud of the evolution of our organization, and we are looking forward to the bright future ahead.
