Garden Walk
The garden walk at the Lake View Nature Center features four garden areas connected by a pathway. Each garden uses a different selection of native plants to focus on a different theme.The path through the gardens is wheelchair-accessible, but please note that it may be under water for a few days after a heavy rain.
Butterfly garden
The Butterfly garden showcases plants that produce brightly-colored flowers and nectar to attract insects.
Sensory garden
The sights, sounds, and smells of a garden are the focus of the Sensory garden.
Teaching garden
The Teaching garden will demonstrate the value of using native plants in gardens and landscaping.
Water garden
The Water garden features plants that grow in wet soils or shallow water.



The Garden Walk received a Conservation and Native Landscaping Award in 2006
from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (Region 5) and Chicago Wilderness.
These awards recognize outstanding efforts to use native plants and conservation
practices within the Chicago Region.
