Day Camp Counselor

The Oakbrook Terrace Park District is seeking candidates for a summer day camp counselor position. Hired employees will be required to work with a small group of children ranging in ages of 5-12 years of age during days in the summer and will be able to acquire 40 hours per week. Counselors will also be required to write daily lesson plans that involve participation in outdoor games, indoor games and arts and crafts activities. Position salary starts at $8.00 per hour.

Teen Camp Counselor

The Oakbrook Terrace Park District is seeking candidates for a teen camp counselor. Hired employees will work with another counselor and up to 20 teenage campers. The camp requires employees to work up to 40 hours per week and schedule and participate in activities and field trips with this group. Position salary starts at $8.00 per hour.

Lake View Nature Center

Environmental Educator

This part-time position will plan and deliver Nature Center programs and classes for pre-school through adult audiences; interact with visitors; assist with care and maintenance of Nature Center animals; assist with design, creation, and maintenance of Nature Center exhibits; and perform various other duties involved in running a small Nature Center. Twenty hours per week. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

Desired skills include: enthusiasm for environmental and natural sciences; knowledge of natural history, particularly local flora and fauna; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the desire and ability to teach children about nature.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or working towards) in science and/or education. Experience working in an educational setting preferred; experience may be substituted for education. Salary range: $9.75 to $10.75 an hour.

Program Assistant

This part-time position is primarily responsible for animal care and maintenance at the Nature Center. Other duties include: assisting staff with Nature Center classes and programs; interacting with visitors; and various other duties involved in running a small Nature Center. At this time the position is for one or two Friday evenings and five to six weekend afternoons each month (8-12 hours per week) with the possibility of additional hours in the summer.

Qualifications: High School or college student; experience with small animal care preferred; excellent verbal and written communication skills. Salary range $7.75 to $8.75 an hour.

Summer Parks Maintenance Position
